Seeing is believing for ‘nicenstripy’

Around twenty franchisees from gardening services company ‘nicenstripy’ visited Etesia UK’s headquarters in Oxfordshire to find out more about the company and its market leading products.

Established in 1996, ‘nicenstripy’ had a vision to change the gardening industry. Founders of the company wanted to design a business that met the demand for a reliable, professional service that still had the friendly, trustworthy face of the local gardener. As a result, ‘nicenstripy’ have established themselves as a market leader in the domestic gardening market.

The company’s philosophy of investing in the best equipment has helped form their success and it is for this very reason that ‘nicenstripy’ expressed an interest in Etesia’s products. Renowned for being that one step ahead, Etesia has always been the first to bring ground-breaking machinery to the market and set a benchmark for others to follow.

nicenstripy’ registered their interest to Etesia dealer South East Groundcare Machinery in Sussex and the insightful day was soon arranged.

The ‘nicenstripy’ franchisees learned about the history of the company and the intriguing story as to how it all began. They were then delivered a presentation on the advances in technology, an overview of current Etesia equipment and a sneak preview of the new products which will be launched later this year. The day was rounded off with the franchisees being given the opportunity to get hands on with some of Etesia’s machinery.

Etesia UK Enhances After Sales Team

Etesia UK is pleased to announce the appointment of Giovanni Soare as after sales assistant. In his new role, Giovanni will provide after sales and dedicated support to the company’s specialist Etesia and Pellenc dealers, including involvement with local shows, demonstrations and open days.

Over the past 25 years Etesia has become an established brand relied upon by many industry professionals in a number of European countries. The UK, in particular, is now Etesia’s third largest market behind its homeland France and second placed Germany. It is also the only other market aside from France and Germany, where Etesia has a fully operational team.
With previous sales experience and possessing excellent customer service skills, Giovanni will be further strengthening a team dedicated to delivering the best support to its dealer network and customers.

“Etesia has a great relationship with everyone it works with and I’m looking forward to being a part of that. Every morning I come in smiling because I know I’m working with a good team and that motivates me a lot,” he said.

Giovanni’s appointment signals the increasing popularity of both Etesia and Pellenc’s battery range of products. The last 12 months has seen an increasing number of operators now using these products due to the excellent performance, low CO2 emissions, low vibration levels and financial savings – making them a truly environmentally friendly product for professionals.

Commenting on the battery powered equipment and Giovanni’s appointment, Etesia UK’s operations director Les Malin, said: “With many more products on the horizon and the battery powered products constantly evolving, the marketplace for these products is growing very quickly. Giovanni’s appointment can be attributed to the popularity of these products.

“Because they are in such high demand, Giovanni will be making sure there is no drop in customer service and ensuring that we continue to help our dealer network in every possible way.

“He’s very adaptable and eventually he’ll be taking more control of the after sales as he progresses.”

Etesia Produces Last Hydro 100 MVEHH

An Etesia ride-on mower recently marked a significant milestone in the company’s history as the last ever Hydro 100 MVEHH rolled off the production line in France.

The Hydro 100 made its revolutionary appearance back in 1989 as the first ride-on mower with direct ejection and integrated collection. This new concept took the market by storm and was emulated by many competitors’ years later. After more than twenty years and several facelifts, Etesia has now produced the last ever Hydro 100 MVEHH machine in this range; with a brand new model being launched in April 2015.

With a more powerful Kawasaki engine, a new transmission with a differential locking system and a unique new design, the company are promising that the new model will be another industry favourite for years to come.

Other features will include a lighter steering system and larger petrol tank – combined with the improved higher speed will mean that the new model will be able to go faster for longer.

Available at the same price as the previous Hydro 100 MVEHH, the new ride-on mower model is expected to be in high demand when it reaches the UK market later this year.

Etesia UK Win Services to Industry Award

Etesia UK, market leaders in building high quality grass cutting machinery, has recently been recognised for its commitment to the horticulture industry by receiving an award at the recent Party for Perennial.

The event, which was held at The Roof Gardens in Kensington, London, saw over 300 people from across the industry attend the charity’s party, who have been helping horticulturists since 1839. It was a great opportunity to not only raise funds for the charity to enable it to continue undertaking the excellent work it does, but also to recognise those who have been influential in supporting the charity and raising the profile of the industry.

Catering for both the professional and domestic market, Etesia UK has grown rapidly over recent years and products that include a variety of walk behind, ride-on mowers and the popular Attila range of brush cutters are extremely popular within the groundcare and amenity markets.

Etesia UK was also influential in organising and promoting a charity event which raised over £6,500 for the national charity. The event, called Mowerthon, saw Phil Voice of the Landscape Juice Network website driving an Etesia ride-on lawn mower 1,250 miles from Bergerac in France all the way to John O’Groats in Scotland.

Commenting on the award, Etesia UK’s operations director Les Malin said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this from such a great charity who is working wonders across the industry.”

Etesia dealers enjoy insightful trip to french headquarters

.Etesia rounded of another successful year by inviting a group of UK dealers to its Wissembourg headquarters in France to provide an insight into the past, present and future of the grass cutting machinery giants.

Etesia Factory visitPatrick Vives, President of Etesia, kick-started the two-day trip by relaying the history of the company and the intriguing story as to how it all began. Attendees were then delivered a presentation on the advances in technology, a sneak preview of the new products which will be launched in 2015, followed by a tour of the impressive, state-of-the-art factory before being given the opportunity to get hands on with some of Etesia’s machinery.

A hearty lunch complimented by some delightful local wine ensued as the group had time to muse on the Etesia experience.

Daniel Evans, from Myrddin Garden Machinery in South Wales, who was particularly keen to learn more about the company, felt that the tour had provided him with a firm understanding of Etesia which in turn would be of great benefit to both companies.

“We are a fairly new dealer for Etesia and we have come here to learn more. They’ve always had highly regarded products and they’re renowned for an excellent wet weather cut and collect range – which is perfect for our area.

“The factory tour has been excellent because I’ve got a much better feel of the plans of the company and I’ve always been a firm believer that you need to know the manufacturer plans. As a dealer for Etesia we need to understand one another and move in the same direction and I’m confident that following this trip both of us will benefit. We hope that we can develop the Etesia franchise into something great,” he said.

Webster Power Products, based in Scotland, are entering their second season as an Etesia dealer, and managing director Murray Webster noted that it would not only be him who benefitted from the factory tour but also his team.

“We are still very much learning about Etesia and this has been great because I can get all the information from the trip across to the rest of the team; especially the unique selling points which we can then relay to our customers.

“This is my first time to the factory and it’s been fantastic – it’s been good to talk to other Etesia dealers, good to see new products and I feel that this tour has really helped us get on the same wave length as the company.”

Echoing Murray’s thoughts was Andrew Meeks from Balmers GM in Lancashire who have been an Etesia dealer for two years. After joining the Burnley based company six months ago, Andrew welcomed the opportunity to gain a greater insight into Etesia.

“It’s been great to explore the products, to see how they are made and learn the philosophy behind the company. It’s quite clear that they are leading manufacturers committed to bringing innovative products to the market and I’m really impressed,” he said.

After the factory tour, the group then had some free time to wander around the picturesque town of Wissembourg. The trip was concluded with an evening visit to the luxurious Royal Palace, Kirrwiller, which saw everyone enjoy live music, acrobats, knife throwing and other enchanting entertainment

Pellenc Keeps it Quiet at The Royal Automobile Club

The Royal Automobile Club Estate Manager Eric Olson and Head Gardener Andy Pearson are two men aiming to make the Club in Surrey as environmentally friendly and efficient as possible, with the purchase of a range of Pellenc battery-powered tools.

Andy, who has been at the Club for 15 years, and his team of three gardeners, who are seen as an extended arm of the 20 strong greenkeeping team, look after all the footpaths, watering of plants, hedge cutting, planting as well as both hard and soft landscaping on the estate. He was looking at purchasing environmentally-friendly equipment that could be used around the clock whilst also improving productivity and cutting operating costs.

“Eric came to me and said I’ve found the solution,” said Andy. “We researched the Pellenc equipment and attended a demonstration day, organised by Surrey Power at Merrist Wood College. We were so impressed that we decided to purchase an Airion blower, Helion hedge cutter and Cultivion power hoe with two batteries.”

The purchase of the equipment means that Andy and his team can work around the clubhouse whilst keeping noise to a minimum. Because of the huge flower beds at the prestigious Club, and the requirement to minimise the use of weed suppressants, the power hoe made perfect sense. “Weed suppressants are so expensive so this product means we can have a ‘green’ machine while saving costs on fuel and chemicals.”

In the last five years, Pellenc has gained market recognition by offering a unique range of ‘zero emission’ battery-powered handheld tools, thanks to the development of Lithium-ion ultra-high performance batteries. This technology, which is exclusive to Pellenc, allows for a drastic reduction in the production of greenhouse gases and noise pollution. It is also comfortable for users, meets new sustainable development demands and offers excellent economic profitability.IMG_5612

“We start work at 5:00am and as we work in close proximity to the main clubhouse, we have to be quiet. It’s not just about being environmentally friendly but also being quiet to ensure members staying are not disturbed. The batteries are also a lot lighter than our petrol equipment and we are now working with less fumes too – it all adds up to less fatigue for the operatives.”

Andy particularly likes the four-speed selector on the Helion hedge cutter and Airion blower: “I like the fact that you are able to work at variable speeds which are easy to adjust to the correct working speed. For what we do here, this technology is perfect as you have a lot of control and get a really good finish, whilst being extremely versatile.”

Pellenc is exclusively distributed in the UK by Etesia UK.

Etesia Recognises Success At Partners In Excellence Awards

The Etesia and Pellenc brands have had monumental success over the past twelve months and in recognition of this achievement, dealers from across the UK gathered at the ‘Partners in Excellence’ awards.

Over 60 dealers made the trip to the Heart of England Conference & Events Centre in Warwickshire, where they were invited to participate in a day of activities including blindfold driving, rifle shooting, quad-biking, off-road karting and 4×4 off-road driving.

Later that evening, the guests returned to the Heart of England for a short presentation on new products which will be launched in 2015, and three-course-meal before Les Malin, UK Operations Director for Etesia, took centre stage to thank the dealers for their continued support. He then proceeded to announce the award winners. The awards were presented to the top performing dealerships; not solely in terms of sales but also in backup, sales and service support and the marketing of both brands.

The most prestigious award – Overall Partner in Excellence – went to Buckinghamshire based RT Machinery. Their phenomenal achievements over recent years, has seen them regular award winners at Etesia’s ‘Partners in Excellence’ awards.

“Over the last few years, I’ve had to find something new to say about RT Machinery. Each time I think that they have reached their pinnacle – they seem to come back stronger and sell more.

“The effort that this company puts into selling both Etesia and Pellenc products driven by the managing director and rest of his family is truly outstanding,” said Les.

In concluding the award ceremony, Les pinpointed the company’s success in the UK market down to the hard work and commitment from all of the dealerships.

“Without the dealer network we have successfully built up, the Etesia and Pellenc brands wouldn’t be the success that they are today. These awards have been designed to not only recognise the achievements of the award winners but all of our dealers,” he said.
The complete list of winners were:

  • Overall Partner in Excellence award winner: RT Machinery
  • Category one Partner in Excellence award winner: Balmers Garden Machinery
  • Category two Partner in Excellence award winner: Turner Groundscare
  • Category three Partner in Excellence award winner: Leigh Park Garden Machinery
  • Pellenc Partner in Excellence award winner: RT Machinery
  • Green Technology Partner in Excellence winner: Angus Chainsaws

To round off a successful event, the dealers enjoyed the rest of the evening with live music from band Vagablond, whilst others tried their luck at the casino tables.

Etesia UK Announce First ETMower Dealer

Etesia UK is pleased to announce the appointment of Green Choice Limited, based in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, as their exclusive robotic mower dealer for East Anglia. The company will supply, service and install the complete range of ETMower robotic mowers as well as other Etesia models from the Green Technology™ range.

Green Choice believes there is a ‘technology revolution’ underway in groundscare machinery and this new partnership underlines the company’s eco-friendly philosophy. Using lithium-ion batteries, the ETmower; a range of three robotic mowers which can maintain areas up to 20,000m², is a non-polluting alternative to the typical petrol or diesel powered mower. Robot mowers reduce the cost of grass maintenance considerably, not only in terms of labour and maintenance costs, but also by cutting energy bills and maintenance costs.

“Green is the future – it’s quiet, it’s safe, has low or nil emissions and of course it’s much more cost-effective which is why we first started looking at the range of Etesia robot mowers. If you look at it, the figures do stack up. So from a commercial point of view, if it stacks up for us then it stacks up for everyone else and of course with the environmental benefits and noise benefits – it makes perfect sense,” said John McCallum, Director of Green Choice.

Mulch mowing is 100% natural as it does away with the need to gather up, store and dispose of the grass clippings. It also fertilises the soil, helps the grass stand up to drought conditions and because the ETMower can make for an easier life for many groundscare professionals, John insists that it can enable them to concentrate on other areas of their work.

“It’s just another great tool for any groundsman to use. It’s not to replace them; in fact the robot mower allows them to get on with all the important tasks such as soil analysis and scarification. You can leave more of the hard work, so to speak, to the machine!” he said.

John believes that their market will predominantly be sports grounds, organisations like the National Trust, schools, hospitals, and large domestic properties and although the robot mower is new to Green Choice, the grounds maintenance specialists have built up a good working relationship with Etesia over recent years.

“We have been using Etesia machines for the last two or three years and we’ve had a great service from them. The back-up we receive is really good and we just like their style. We can trust them, we can work with them and so we thought that if we are going to partner with someone in the UK then we want to partner with someone we trust.”

Etesia Confirms Attendance at ‘Coping with Slopes’

Etesia UK has confirmed its attendance at the ‘Coping with Slopes’ event which is being held on 22nd October. The company say recent reports of operators losing their lives in bank mowing accidents have triggered a high demand for demonstrations of their Attila range of ride-on and pedestrian brushcutters and this event will highlight the benefits of purpose-built machinery.

The event, which is being organised by British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) and the National Contractors Forum (NCF), takes place at the Seven Trent Draycote Water site in Warwickshire and will be a health and safety led event investigating the risks and different methods involved in vegetated embankment management.

Severn Trent has granted BALI access to the large reservoir embankments at Draycote Water, one of the largest reservoirs in the Midlands. The picturesque site boasts some considerable grass embankments and will be a testing ground for the range of Attila machines.

Etesia’s UK Operations Director, Les Malin, says, “It is tragic that fatal accidents of this kind can occur in an age when purpose-built bank mowers are so readily available. The big mistake is to use a standard ride-on mower for maintaining steep slopes – they can easily become unstable on gradients, putting the operator at great risk.

“A very large number of commercial users are realising that employing the wrong machine for the job is a costly exercise, especially in cases where charges of corporate manslaughter could be raised against the company in question. This will be a great opportunity for grounds maintenance and landscape contractors to benchmark a range of machinery.”IMG_7055

The tremendous traction and performance of the Etesia Attila 180 and Etesia Attila SKD, fitted with an optional dual wheel kit, are effective brushcutters on uneven terrain and steep slopes of up to 27°. These machines allow you to safely tackle steep slopes and hillside verges with ease.
